Abstract

This paper assesses how tapestries including the Game of Thrones tapestry in the Museum of Ulster, the Tapestry of Light which has been displayed in Canterbury Cathedral and Grayson Perry's Tapestries use traditional skills with contemporary subject matter to reimagine tapestries. The paper also assesses the spaces where they are displayed, including Canterbury Cathedral, Ulster Museum and Tate Liverpool, asking what is heritage and what is art?
