Abstract

Buffalo Bill toured East Kent extensively and this paper examines elements of staged authenticity both front and backstage in his tour. Drawing material from newspaper archives the paper assesses the Americanisation, performance and the cultural stereotyping presented as part of William Cody's Wild West show.
