Group exhibition at the Fleur de Lys Gallery, Faversham, 10-13 Preston Street, Faversham ME13 8NS, 6 - 28th August 2016.

A series of works in response to the WW1 archive in the Fleur De Lys Museum, curated by to be exhibited with works by Colin Priest, Sara Trillo, Tim Meacham, John Dargan.

Responding specifically to the photographic archive, I made a series of paintings of small groups of people from snapshots taken at a recruiting event in Faversham, where I live. I added a painting made from a photograph dating from the 1950s, of my wife's grandfather, former mayor Harry Knowles in conversation.

The texts resist ideas of heroism, sacrifice and apocalypse associated with WW1 by addressing ideas of continuity and family resemblance.

The written text, which I authored, is also available spoken by my brother-in-law Alexis Latham, whose grandfather features in the work.
